This natural, soothing skin balm is made in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. It is made with olive oil, plantain leaf, leaves of rosemary, leaf gel of aloe, comfrey, tea tree oil, lavender, and beeswax.
Everyone has a special place they go to relax, turn off the world, or "recharge the batteries." It can be as simple as your favorite armchair, your kitchen table, or a favorite park, or it can be Montmartre on a sunny afternoon, a stroll through Regents Park, or sunset at Will Rogers Beach.
For our little family, that special place has become Kaui: A few years ago, a dear friend let us stay in his place over 4th of July. He has a beautifully simple house, about a mile from the coast. It's in a mostly agricultural area, on a hill that over looks the Pacific. We spent many hours sitting on his wide, wrap-around porch, drinking the amazing Hawaiian coffee, listening to hundreds of roosters wandering wild, while the boys played soccer in the grass. The warm breeze, the chattering of the palm tree fronds, and the clean smell of the ocean made the busy streets of L.A. seem like another planet, another life, away.
No phones, no errands, no business commitments interrupted the pure joy of those hours.
We went again in the summer of 2013. This time, Anna and the boys took me for a Father's Day surf lesson at Titus Kinimaka’s Hawaiian School Of Surfing in Hanalei. We had a blast! We came in that afternoon, worn out and a little sun- and windburned. Browsing around the shop afterwards, I bought a travel tin of Surfer's Salve. I was interested in the all the natural ingredients, that it was made in Kaui, and that it seemed to address all the skin and lip issues we were having after 5 days of swimming, snorkeling, and surfing. We all tried it that night and then came back the next day, and bought a bag of travel-sized and large tins. We now have it stocked all over the house and in briefcases and soccer bags. It makes our skin and lips feel better, and we love the gentle scent. We hope your family loves it as much as ours does.
